projects Richard is working on
Richard is collaborating with artists, games developers and audiences. Together, they are exploring the concept and design elements of a MMORT (massively multiplayer online real-time) strategy game and applying these to real world face to face performance ‘games’.... and watching what happens when people play.
Harlow Habitats:
Currently, Richard is collaborating with Sarah Spanton (www.waymarking.org.uk) as DELVE Associates to take Frederick Gibberd's Masterplan for the New Town as a starting point for exploring assets identifed with communities in Harlow. They were at Heart4Harlow Festival in May 2016, mapping assets with a simple gaming mechanism. The result were gfascinating and form the basis of next steps with an installation and strategy document.

seek/hide: harlow
Richard is developing a permanently installed mixed reality heritage game for Harlow . This project sees the creation of a performance game across Harlow that mixes digital assets with the Town's physical attributes. It uses oral histories developed with young people, existing archive materials and specially created filmed performance to create a maze of social endeavours, pleasingly frustrating clues and challenging tasks that see players explore Harlow's social development… and its potential future.

In order to get seriously playful with insurgent activity, Richard is planning a three day durational performance for urban spaces... and one for rural settings; inhabit an open virtual world overlaying the real world.... let's see how many rules we can break and what new ones do for the public realm and what we think we can do in it.....
